Grief is love. Jamie Anderson's quote says it well: "Grief is just love with no place to go." Thanks for sharing your love for your dad.

This is beautiful and grief is a weird thing for sure. I think your book does an amazing job of connecting the dots between grief, love and joy.

Grief is weird. I am sorry for the loss of your dad- I appreciate reading unique experiences of grief because they are never the same and I would never presume to know someone else’s experience of their grief.

No one in my immediate family has died, but my 55 yo uncle died 2 years ago and I have had a much harder time with his death than the death of my 86 yo grandmother 3.5 years ago. We have also had two other glioblastoma diagnoses in our extended family on my husband’s side this year which has brought up a lot of feelings for me. I have talked to my therapist about pain and joy coexisting.

My two closest friends in law school both had their moms die from cancer, one at age 25 a month before we graduated in 2013, and the other one in 2022 when she was 7 months pregnant with her second kid. I try to show up for them especially knowing they don’t have their moms with them to navigate parenting. We all live 5 hours apart now but we still talk weekly on our group text.
